John Roberson III is a 2008 graduate of the Political Science program. After serving five years in the US Air Force, John attended UAA with the purpose of gaining a better understanding of the political world.
During his time at UAA, John was highly involved with campus activities from UAA’s Constitutional Convention to Student Government. In fact, John served one year as UAA’s student body president where he was responsible for a $250,000 budget and leading students to Juneau to advocate for the University.
John’s track record of service led the way for Governor Palin to appoint him (while student body president) to the Alaska Commission on Post Secondary Education; this was the first time in UAA’s history that a student served in both positions consecutively. Never leaving out the Veteran’s, John also served on the Municipal Military and Veteran’s Affairs Commission where he ensured that the Mayor was kept up to date on the issues facing veterans and military members.
Currently a graduate student in UAA’s Master of Public Administration program, John has reported being well-prepared for graduate study by the political science program. “I’m proud to have graduated from UAA’s Political Science program. I learned so much about not only the political process but also about myself.”
